The Off-White Ginza men’s shop is in a constant state of becoming and transforming.

Made from standard building materials, the brick façade and welded wire enclosure tantalizingly reveal and conceal the merchandise along the public corridor at Ginza Six Shopping Center in Tokyo. Off-White logo bricks flirt with the tradition of monogram masonry while celebrating the future of Virgil Abloh’s renowned, and ever-evolving, Off-White brand.

The store interior features display fixtures, furniture and finishes that are all made of standard construction details, such as rebar shelves and seating, steel reinforcement used to hang garments and carpets of welded wire that emerge from cracks in the concrete floor.

To enhance this atmosphere of ‘warehouse surrealism,’ the entire installation is composed of basic construction ingredients in a simultaneous condition of building and un-building.

Special features include:

  • The environment as a combination of boldly visible, to barely perceptible, reminders of the Off-White brand.

  • This industrial depot is in the process of evolution and change, while providing an ‘inside/outside visual experience.

  • The collage-like use of standard construction materials generates an atmosphere of roughness, immediacy and imagination.

  • The transformational character of this store reflects the imaginative and ever-changing qualities of Off-White.
